THE SPECIAL GIFT

Romans 1:10 (NLT)

“One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.”

We all want our God-approved plans to succeed. We want our ideas and suggestions to gain momentum and find acceptance before men. We want to move ahead in our careers and ministries. We all want progress, and this is a normal godly human expectation. Having done all that we are supposed to do, however, we need a special gift from God before we can make true progress, and that gift is called “opportunity.”

Opportunity is God’s hand of favor upon us. Opportunity is the open door we need to move ahead. Opportunity is the little step that takes us into the giant leap. We don’t create opportunity; opportunity is given to us, opportunity comes to us. Like the wind that pushes the boat forward because it’s caught in the sail, we can’t control the wind but we can position ourselves to catch it when it blows. Paul said, “One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity…” Ask those who ever became something, and they’ll tell you of their gift or gifts of opportunity. This gift opens doors, attracts people, makes strategic connections at crucial times, celebrates hard work with exposure and appreciation. This gift is something we need to pray for because, as it is a gift, it’s not our right, and only God can give it to us.

“I confess Lord, You have been really wonderful to me. I have had many good breaks on my journey and these were gifts that promoted and elevated me in life and ministry. Thank You Lord. I selfishly ask again Lord, do keep granting me these favors and opportunities, that I may continue to experience progress in all that I set out to do, in accordance with Your will. Amen.”
