1 Samuel 2:6 (NKJV)
“The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up.”
All power belongs to God, and our God is the only being that has total sovereignty and total power, all by Himself. We do not have the final say in the affairs of our lives, hence the need for total dependence on Him. Even what we consider our strength is no guarantee of anything, and our current state of failure may suddenly change according to His sovereign will, for: “the bows of the mighty are broken and those who stumbled are girded with strength”, verse 4.
All power belongs to God, and because He is a good God, this is the surest and strongest hope in our lives. Even if we are trapped in the grave of death, He is able to make us alive again. There is no situation we face that is permanent because He is the One who makes and remakes situations. Similarly, we must never be proud of some particular victory and some state of happiness because He can turn it around overnight. Our greatest assurance in life must be to stick with God, to walk with God, to keep our eyes on Him, for all things are from Him and belong to Him. Amen.
