DEFINING TRAGEDY!

Romans 1:24 (NKJV)

“Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,”

It is a sad thing whenever God chooses to let you go. We may think it is freedom but in reality, it is the height of bondage when we think we have attained a place where God no longer watches over us. Tragedy is when God releases us to ourselves. There is nothing as catastrophic and disastrous as this, and this happens when we insist on continually wrestling against His will.

NLT says, “God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.” This is fearful and most tragic. Whenever God abandons a person to his desires, the end product will always be horrible. In this passage, they starting doing “vile and degrading things” – NLT. Never choose independence from God. Never choose your own ways. Never think you can survive without Him. Degradation and vileness is what we will become outside of God. This is how you define tragedy.

“Lord, I confess that I have many times chosen my own will against Yours and I have been worse off for it. Always have mercy on me Lord, and keep holding me even against my will. You promised You will never leave me or forsake me, and I hold on to that promise in Christ Jesus. Amen.”
